XMAS MUSINGS

This calm Xmas Eve morning, around 9.30, I was sitting at my breakfast table, sipping coffee and enjoying the view of Hammarby Sound (Hammarby Sjö) outside my window. All was white, the sky covered, but still half open, only the boats and houses on the opposite side of the Channel showing some muted colors. As I was contemplating this scenery in "pastel", I felt the urge to communicate it to you. In this digital age and space, thought is flesh without undue delay, so enclosed please find my view from the kitchen table, as it looked then, on this splendid Xmas Eve morning. A nice way to convey my very best wishes for a calm and relaxing holiday season, don’t you think?

PS: The comments below are actually responses to an e-mail I sent to family and friends on Xmas 2009, with the picture and text I have replicated in the present post. DS

Hallo Emil,

Gruss Frank

Dear Mr. Emil

Thank you for making us travel there, for a second a thought I could listen to the seagulls. I have sent you a Christmas card with my wishes and another picture the colors of which I thought you would appreciate. I am leaving now as shortly I am taking my flight back to Greece.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Yours sincerely
Anthi

Thanks Emil. Given our shared interest in photography and here there are good opportunities for wildlife photography and I will be in the UK to buy a few lenses and a baby Leica - which for some reason reminds me of you – that plus my youngest Emilio shares your name. Here he is doing a Manekin Piss impression… [Picture could not be added here, EE]

Dear Emil,
Season's greetings and a Happy New Year. The photo is lovely as
always. I like the way it captures the water freezing. It's been cold
in Luxembourg this week, but the snow is thawing for Christmas.

Best regards
Douglas

It was very kind of you to let us visit you during our journey in Belgium. It was the highlight of my 2009. I sincerely hope that your decision to move has been successful. Do take good care of yourself.

And happy new year!

Gode Emil,

Takk for stilig bilde.

Beste hilsen,
Arne Jon

Dear Emil,
Thank you very much for your greetings and the picture from «almost back home». It’s nice to hear from you and that you enjoy your old-new life in Sweden! Did you try any samba there yet? Perhaps they don’t have it? I spent Christmas with my family in Skane, it’s been wonderful and white and a good break from Busy Brussels. Now back and in front of computer – time to launch the new classes….and so life and the world resumes it’s cycle.
Take care Emil, wishing you all good things for 2010 !
Sofie

Dear Emil,
It's a beautiful view you have there to wake up to every morning. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I'm in Patagonia, where I spent Christams and New Year. All is well. I'm enjoying the trekking very much. Off to Usuhaia tomorrow.

With my very best wishes for 2010,
Ariane

Hallo lieber Emil,
